
As a legacy of UnPlug & PLaY Week - held from 2013 to 2019 - the North Okanagan Optimist Club started putting PlayBoxes in neighbourhood parks. The boxes are filled with equipment and toys so children and families can use for active play when they visit the parks.
We thank the following for their contributions to establishing, maintaining and filling our PlaY Boxes: Kal Tire., Interior Savings, City of Vernon, BC Community Grant, Shell Community Grant, Elks Club, Royal Canadian Legion and all who have supported our fundraising efforts over the years!
As we came out of the pandemic years, the club continued the promotion of an unplugged, active lifestyle for our children with our Pop-Up Neighbourhood Park Days which are held at two or three of the parks with a PlayBox each spring/summer.
